Creating presets isn’t too difficult, but it can be intimidating to those who haven’t done it before. That’s why we put together this step-by-step guide on how to create and use Alight Motion Presets.

What are Motion Presets?

Motion presets allow you to load pre-programmed animation or movement onto the joints of your character or objects. When a motion preset is applied, you can immediately animate all joints at once with one click, instead of animating each joint separately.

In this post, we’ll explain what Alight Motion presets are and how they’re made. We’ll also provide an overview of how to use a preset in your animations.

A presets is a set of motion keyframes that can be applied with one click instead of having to enter them yourself. This way, the animator can focus on more important parts of the animation instead of time-consuming tasks like animating walk cycles.

Importing the Images you want to use with your new preset

1. Navigate to the Lightroom Presets Directory and locate the folder containing the original preset that you are interested in exporting. In this example, we will use one of the presets within my Alight Collection.

2. Right-click on the preset that you are exporting and select Copy. This will copy it into your clipboard, so we can now paste it into a new location elsewhere.

Tips for creating new presets

Start by going into the Home tab. Select New Scene. Now, you can see a prompt at the bottom of the screen with a blank space called Name. Type in a name and press enter on your keyboard. After that, select the scene tab up top.
