1) KineMaster
KineMaster is one of our favorite video editing apps for Android and iPhone. This app allows you to do just about everything you’d want to on your smartphone, including adding text captions, titles, filters, transitions and background music. You can also share your videos through social media or by saving them to your camera roll. The best part? It’s completely free. KineMaster offers a pro upgrade with more advanced features like color correction tools and slow motion options. Best of all, video files are saved directly to your phone so they won’t take up any extra space in your storage as is typical with most video editors.
2) PowerDirector
PowerDirector is considered one of the best video editing apps for both PC and smartphones. It has a ton of features, can edit multiple video formats, and supports 4K editing. It also comes with a free mobile app that allows you to edit on-the-go. What’s great about PowerDirector is its ease of use and versatility; it works as good for beginners as it does for professionals. Plus, it has over 200 effects, transitions, music and more to help you create excellent videos like a pro in less than 10 minutes per clip.
3) FilmoraGo
FilmoraGo is one of my favourite video editing apps. It has a simple user interface and you can easily do basic editing tasks, such as cropping and color correction. The app also allows you to play around with music and adding filters. More advanced users may find FilmoraGo lacking when it comes to more complex work. That being said, I think FilmoraGo would be great for beginners who want to try video editing but don’t want to deal with some of Filmora’s more complicated features. Overall, it’s free and easy-to-use app that I highly recommend trying out if you’re just getting started with video editing on your smartphone or tablet!
4) VivaVideo
VivaVideo is a video editing app for Android and iOS. The app supports adding filters, text, music and other effects to your videos. You can also change speeds for faster or slower video playback if desired. It’s quick, fun and easy to use – plus there are dozens of effects to choose from! (iOS)
5) VideoShow
If you’re not an Instagram power user and don’t feel like sifting through hashtags to find good content, check out VideoShow. The app is built around the theme of one minute videos for social media, and it shows you a new video every day that matches that theme. When we say one minute videos, we really mean it: each clip is limited to 10 seconds. You can also choose individual themes if you want more control over what you see, but even though its name might sound generic, with access to over 1 million custom video cuts (and thousands of video templates), there are more than enough choices on hand. Additionally, you get to decide how long each cut stays on your screen—from 5 seconds up to 3 minutes.
6) Filmr
If you want to learn how to edit videos but don’t want to shell out for expensive software, try Filmr. This free app for iPhone and Android takes an approach similar to a consumer-level product like iMovie; it doesn’t have as many features or a sleek design, but it’s easy enough for anyone to use. You can add titles and filters, upload photos from your gallery, create text overlays and alter effects. When you’re done, you can share with other apps like YouTube or Facebook. The fact that there are so few bells and whistles here means you can focus on what really matters: telling your story.
7) Quik
Quik is an iPhone vidoe editing app that offers a quick and simple way to get videos edited and shared. The app lets you add filters, music, text and transitions, giving your video something extra. With Quik you can easily share your creations on social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook or Snapchat without having to download each individual platform’s native app. On top of all that, if you are an Amazon Prime member who owns an Echo Show device, then you can control Quik using just your voice. While other video apps may be more fully featured than Quik, few offer something so unique when it comes to sharing content across multiple services.
8) YouCut
If you are looking for an easy way to make short videos of yourself on your smartphone, consider YouCut. The app enables you to choose from a selection of filters and themes. There is also a voiceover feature that lets you record your own narration. Finally, YouCut is free so there are no hidden costs with using it. Despite its simplicity, however, YouCut has everything you need to create professional-looking videos right from your phone!
9) InShot
InShot has one of my favorite interfaces of all time. It’s got a very simple design and lets you do more advanced things, but it doesn’t get in your way with too many features. You can shoot video (with filters, if you want) and then use what are called gifts to add effects or transitions. I don’t think InShot is quite as robust as some of these other options (like Viddy), but at least it doesn’t get in your face with a lot of stupid stuff while you’re trying to work.
10) Magisto
While more limited than some of its competitors, Magisto offers mobile support for both Android and iOS devices. Once videos are imported from your phone’s camera roll or from a gallery, Magisto analyzes them and spits out quick-and-dirty cuts that get you to your final video relatively quickly. And it can even tap into your Facebook and Instagram accounts to make finding family members easier—though, unfortunately, not automated. With that said, if all you want is a simple way to cut up some B-roll or compile edits of random photos you took a while ago, Magisto may be just what you’re looking for.
