World’s Longest On-Demand Music Service: What is It and What Does It Mean for Music Lovers?

Recently, we found out about a music service that we had not heard of before called MOG, which claims to be the world’s longest on-demand music service. If you have never heard of MOG before either, you are not alone as the service has only been available in North America since 2011 and currently it boasts just 250,000 paid subscribers (although it offers trial periods). So why do we care about this? Well, if MOG can be considered the world’s longest on-demand music service than does this mean that on-demand music services are here to stay?

About TIDAL

TIDAL has been dubbed the world’s first music subscription service with High Fidelity sound quality, High Definition music videos and Curated Editorial. But what does that mean exactly, and how does it affect you as a consumer of music?

How Much Does TIDAL Cost?

TIDAL’s pricing is confusing. A $9.99 a month TIDAL HiFi subscription gives you high fidelity sound quality, while standard TIDAL subscriptions are $9.99 a month, but allow you to listen to music in 320 kbps quality (which isn’t high fidelity). Additionally, when compared to Apple Music and Spotify Premium—both of which are also $9.99 a month—the cost structure can be really confusing.

How To Get TIDAL Free Trial

If you’re unfamiliar with TIDAL, it’s an on-demand music streaming service that offers high fidelity sound (TIDAL HiFi) and over 30 million songs in one easy to use service. The Tidal Free Trial gives users access to all of Tidal’s content without any monthly payments at all—useful if you’re not quite sure if you like it yet, but want to check out what kind of offerings they have before signing up.

How To Stream With TIDAL

Music lovers who haven’t taken a look at TIDAL yet may not realize that they can actually stream with their service. Here are a few tips on how to stream on TIDAL, what they offer and how it compares with other popular streaming services.

Who Can Use TIDAL HiFi (Or Not)?

Tidal HiFi delivers CD-quality sound, but it’s not available in all countries. Furthermore, there are some stipulations to using Tidal HiFi that could disqualify you from being able to use it.

Where Can I Listen To Tidal?

Tidal supports a variety of devices, including iOS and Android phones, Windows PCs, Macs, Sonos wireless speakers as well as Samsung Smart TVs. Learn more about how to listen to Tidal from your favorite device.

Best Devices For Playing Tidal

Tidal isn’t available on all devices—at least not yet. Here are some of your best options if you want to play Tidal through your own music player, car stereo or other device. (Note that these are all iOS devices; a full list of supported devices on other operating systems isn’t yet available.)
